TICS Rail Signalling has announced the opening of a new office in Kettering, signalling its ambitions for continued growth and greater geographical coverage.
The new office will enable TICS to enhance its works testing capability and increase its ability to deliver signalling design, installation, testing and commissioning in the heart of Northamptonshire and southwards, into the Greater London region. Kettering is centrally located with strong transport links to the north and south via the M1 and A1, as well as the A14 to the East and the M6 to the West. It is also strategically positioned to service both the East Coast and West Coast Mainlines.
As a leading independent signalling services provider to the UK railway and one of the UK’s largest independent testing groups, TICS Rail Signalling has a growing presence, with centres of operation in Doncaster, York, Barnsley and now Kettering. The TICS brand is 20 years old this year and is a highly-respected Tier 2 provider of services to industry giants such as Siemens, Kier, Colas, Amey and Babcock Rail.
In May 2017, TICS became part of Trackwork Ltd. in an acquisition which has seen the two companies co-locate in Trackwork’s existing 37-acre site at Kirk Sandall, Doncaster. It has been a highly beneficial move for both companies, enabling each to provide an enhanced rail offering to their joint customer base.
The new office in Kettering will be headed by John Storer, Senior Test and Commissioning Engineer. John is a seasoned Principles Tester and Major Works Tester in Charge, with experience on both Network Rail and LUL Infrastructure, working in the industry since the 1980s. He has always been heavily involved in staff development at TICS, ensuring all staff are competent to standards laid down by Network Rail. He is also an IRSE Workplace and Competence Assessor. Under John will be a team comprising four testers in charge and supported by 3b/4, 3c and Mod 5 competent staff.
Steve Brookes – Testing Director said: “This is an exciting time in our history. Kettering will prove to be key to our growth and expansion in the south of the country, and will enable us to build on existing relationships with Tier 1 partners. John Storer has the ideal breadth of skills and experience to manage this new arm of our operation.”
Mark Cusack – Commercial Director said: “This is our 20th year of operation and our first anniversary since becoming part of the Trackwork Group, strengthening our position in the industry and enabling us to develop opportunities to provide a multi-disciplinary offering.”
TICS Rail Signalling will be attending Rail Live on 20th-21st June, with specialists from its Kettering office in attendance.
